PACK PRIDE Staff Spotlight: Christal Bevitori

PACK PRIDE Staff Spotlight: Christal Bevitori

This month, we are spotlighting administrative assistant and 2025 Employee of the Year finalist Christal Bevitori for her commitment to Springfield Elementary, especially during the aftermath of the severe storms our community experienced this August.

“Christal has come into the office every day we have been off school. While working with our parents and staff, she is positive and patient as we have dealt with the many hurdles the start of the school year has brought,” said Principal Lisa Emshwiller.

Christal helped Springfield navigate the unique start to the year out of a true appreciation for her community.

“[Springfield is] so much like a family and I’ve been here for 31 years,” she said. “Many of our students’ parents were students of mine years ago. It’s a true community.”

That connection to Springfield is matched by Christal’s ability to remain flexible and quickly adapt whenever circumstances change.

“When things switch on a dime, she is flexible and goes with the flow,” said Principal Emshwiller.

The week leading up to the delayed first day of school offered a clear example of how Christal demonstrates the MCAS 7 Habits of Character.

“Christal exhibits the 7 Habits of Character every day…Anyone calling Springfield will feel that she has Respect for them and is Responsible for getting the job done. She shows Empathy to both our staff and families as they are working through the changes!”

It also goes without saying that Christal is a true model of Integrity, going out of her way to ensure Springfield was ready to welcome back students and staff without pause.

Christal deeply cares for everyone she crosses paths with, ensuring their experience as a student, staff member, or parent is positive and productive.

“The best part of working for MCAS is the parents that I’ve had the opportunity to work with over the years, the students I’ve worked with, and my colleagues,” she said. “I’ve made some lifelong friendships through my years at MCAS and have enjoyed watching our students accomplish many lifelong journeys over the years.”

She is always there to cheer on the Sharks, and she values the positive impact she continues to have on them.

“I want to encourage students to be the person they can be. Let them know that they can accomplish anything that they put their mind to if they work hard enough,” she said.

Outside of Springfield, Christal enjoys caring for her five tortoises: three Russian tortoises and two Forsten’s tortoises (pictured below).

Congratulations Christal! Thank you for everything you do for Michigan City Area Schools.
